Tackling medical waste, one bag at a time. In Thailand, more than a million dialysis bags are discarded every month. We give this waste a new purpose by transforming discarded bags into contemporary lifestyle accessories.
Working in partnership with a Thai university, we purchase dialysis bags directly from home-based patients who lack access to hospital treatment due to financial constraints. This approach not only reduces medical waste but also provides patients with vital financial support for their ongoing dialysis.
The transformation is carried out by a collective of elderly women artisans we have trained in Bangkok. With skill and care, they turn these once-disposable bags into durable, meaningful, and unique accessories creating livelihoods and fostering community.
